first_imgPSG to compete with Juventus for Man Utd outcast Paul Pogbaby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the lovePSG are expected to compete for Manchester United outcast Paul Pogba in January. The Daily Star says United’s £89million Frenchman has become such a divisive figure in the dressing room that club chiefs are ready to flog him less than three years after making him the most expensive player in the world.Jose Mourinho has run out of patience with the midfielder, 25, and it is understood United are planning to cash in on him next month regardless of whether Mourinho continues as boss. The feeling is it is best to part ways now – to help Mourinho turn the season around and ensure any prospective new boss does not inherit the problem.Juventus are in contact, though Paris St-Germain are also sure to join the bidding. first_imgReal Madrid to use Bale to beat Man Utd for Pochettino dealby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveReal Madrid are ready to use Gareth Bale as a bargaining chip in talks with Tottenham for manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Daily Star says Spurs want £45million at least in compensation for Pochettino, who is also a top target for Manchester United.Sources close to Real suggest they will give Spurs the first option to buy back the Wales international on the cheap – if it paves the way to lure Poch to Madrid.Certainly, the prospect of Bale, 29, returning to the club he left five years ago for a then-world record £85m would be a tempting one for Tottenham supremo Daniel Levy.Re-signing the three-time Champions League winner – even at a reduced price – would be a significant statement going into their first full season at the new White Hart Lane. first_imgCardale Jones swings and misses at a softball.Twitter/@STN_Sports Every year, NCAA member schools have to self-report dozens of violations, the vast majority of which are quite inane. Ohio State’s student newspaper The Lantern reports that the school reported 29 minor violations, six of which came from the football program. The most interesting of them centers on quarterback Cardale Jones’ attendance as a celebrity softball game hosted by Cleveland Browns star Joe Haden.Cardale Jones and Prime Time at Joe Haden’s Celebrity softball game pic.twitter.com/tYUaV2G0Gk— Mary Kay Cabot (@MaryKayCabot) June 6, 2015In one case, an OSU football player was told that he was neither permitted to participate in nor attend the Joe Haden Celebrity Charity Softball game in Cleveland on June 6. However, on the morning of the event he called his position coach and was told he could attend the event but not participate.Because the school had not provided written approval to attend, a violation had occurred. An OSU spokesman could not confirm the identity of the player, but redshirt junior quarterback Cardale Jones was documented to have attended the game.In response to the violation, a letter of education was provided to all football coaches and staff emphasizing the rules regarding promotional activities, as well as reviewed with football student-athletes.Braxton Miller’s Instagram photo promoting AdvoCare from the spring was also included in the report. It should be noted that there should not be an repercussions for minor offenses like these, but it is always interesting to look at the things that are deemed violations by the NCAA. Many of them are pretty ridiculous.[The Lantern via Eleven Warriors]last_img read more

(Photo by Mike Stobe/Getty Images)ESPN’s computer model has released its initial rankings for the 2019 college football season. The Football Power Index rankings are out.Clemson comes in at No. 1 in the new Football Power Index rankings. The reigning national champions are the preseason No. 1 for the second year in a row.“Clemson is predicted to be better than every other team in the country, so it makes sense that we’re forecasting the Tigers to have a dominating edge over every other team in the conference. The ACC is thin on upper-tier teams. In fact, after Clemson, it has basically … nothing.Clemson is more than 17 points per game better than every other team in the ACC. Our conference and playoff projections won’t be out for a couple of months, but it’s safe to say that the Tigers’ outlook for both of those will be awfully strong,” ESPN writes. Most of the usual suspects are at the top of the rankings, too. Alabama comes in at No. 2 and Georgia is No. 3.What team is projected to be the worst in college football, though?UTEP is getting that honor. The Miners are coming in at No. 130 in the rankings following their 1-11 season in 2018.The worst Power 5 team, meanwhile, is projected to be Kansas. Les Miles certainly has his work cut out for him.last_img read more
