first_imgReal Madrid to use Bale to beat Man Utd for Pochettino dealby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveReal Madrid are ready to use Gareth Bale as a bargaining chip in talks with Tottenham for manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Daily Star says Spurs want £45million at least in compensation for Pochettino, who is also a top target for Manchester United.Sources close to Real suggest they will give Spurs the first option to buy back the Wales international on the cheap – if it paves the way to lure Poch to Madrid.Certainly, the prospect of Bale, 29, returning to the club he left five years ago for a then-world record £85m would be a tempting one for Tottenham supremo Daniel Levy.Re-signing the three-time Champions League winner – even at a reduced price – would be a significant statement going into their first full season at the new White Hart Lane. first_imgCardale Jones swings and misses at a softball.Twitter/@STN_Sports Every year, NCAA member schools have to self-report dozens of violations, the vast majority of which are quite inane. Ohio State’s student newspaper The Lantern reports that the school reported 29 minor violations, six of which came from the football program. The most interesting of them centers on quarterback Cardale Jones’ attendance as a celebrity softball game hosted by Cleveland Browns star Joe Haden.Cardale Jones and Prime Time at Joe Haden’s Celebrity softball game pic.twitter.com/tYUaV2G0Gk— Mary Kay Cabot (@MaryKayCabot) June 6, 2015In one case, an OSU football player was told that he was neither permitted to participate in nor attend the Joe Haden Celebrity Charity Softball game in Cleveland on June 6. However, on the morning of the event he called his position coach and was told he could attend the event but not participate.Because the school had not provided written approval to attend, a violation had occurred. An OSU spokesman could not confirm the identity of the player, but redshirt junior quarterback Cardale Jones was documented to have attended the game.In response to the violation, a letter of education was provided to all football coaches and staff emphasizing the rules regarding promotional activities, as well as reviewed with football student-athletes.Braxton Miller’s Instagram photo promoting AdvoCare from the spring was also included in the report. It should be noted that there should not be an repercussions for minor offenses like these, but it is always interesting to look at the things that are deemed violations by the NCAA. Many of them are pretty ridiculous.[The Lantern via Eleven Warriors]last_img read more

Members of Ohio State’s men’s ice hockey team celebrate a goal by freshman forward Tanner Laczynski (9) in the third period of the Buckeye’s game against Bowling Green on Oct. 22. The Buckeyes won 6-1. Credit: Breanna Crye | For The LanternAfter opening the new year with a split series last week against No. 4 Penn State, and cracking the top 10 in the USCHO.com rankings, the 10th-ranked Ohio State men’s hockey team (10-4-4) is set for two nonconference meetings against Arizona State (6-13-0) on Friday and Saturday. The Sun Devils’ hockey program is in just its second year of existence, but has performed well against good opponents. With the Sun Devils facing another top-10 opponents this weekend, OSU coach Steve Rohlik said that win or lose for Arizona State, the Sun Devils impact may be bigger off the ice.“I think it’s really important what they’re doing. They’re the face of expansion,” Rohlik said. “It could be the door out West, and I think all of us in college hockey are hoping for their success because we love to see this game grow.”The Sun Devils are fresh off three straight losses to ranked opponents, including being swept by No. 1 Denver last weekend. Coach Greg Powers’ squad is allowing an average of four goals per game this season, and has been outscored by its opponents 84-47 in 19 games.Despite that, Rohlik said ASU is a quality opponent, and he anticipates two tough games.“I know they work extremely hard, are well-coached. They just started Division I, but they’ve played some awfully good teams pretty darn well,” he said. “They’ve won some games, and I’m impressed with what they’re doing on tape.” Freshman forward Tanner Laczynski returns to the Buckeyes following his appearance with the United States hockey junior team for the World Junior Championships in Canada, where the Stars and Stripes defeated the hosts in the gold medal match in a shootout, 5-4.Headed into the matchup with the Sun Devils, Laczynski said being a newcomer makes them an unfamiliar opponent, but added that he expects them to come ready to work.“They’re going to try to get in the Big Ten in the next couple years, so this is a big game for them,” he said. “They’re going to be ready to play, and we can’t take them lightly. So we’ve got to be ready, just like every game, and play a full 60 minutes both games.”Puck drop at the Schottenstein Center is set for 7 p.m. Friday night, and 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. read more

first_imgFacebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsAppProvidenciales, 16 Nov 2015 – Owners of the Tuscany and Venetian resort condos on Grace Bay filed a complaint about the proposed 12-storey development planned for next door to their properties, and today a judgment was handed down giving them victory in the case. Chief Justice Margaret Ramsay Hale agreed with the argument put forth by Tuscany and Venetian and ruled for their legal costs to be covered by respondents in the case and stated in the ruling that there was a breach. Those respondents are: The Governor, the Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Planning and the Director of Planning. From the judgment the case was won by the Venetian and the Tuscany owners because there was insufficient public consultation and the applicants challenged the authority of Cabinet or Planning Department to alter the planning ordinance in the way that they did. In her grounds for the ruling, the CJ says while the Director of Planning and the Minister, who is in this case Hon Amanda Misick are given certain authorities, those need to be thoroughly executed by ensuring among other things that people who will be impacted by the proposed zoning changes are informed and given opportunity to make representation before any plan is submitted and approved by the Governor. This proper process, according to Ramsay-Hale, did not happen. When it comes to the consultation on this zoning change to go with taller buildings in Provo, the Chief Justice outlines that the consultation must come at a point when there is an opportunity to influence the proposal and not when the decision has already been made. The town hall meeting held by the PNP Administration was described as a ‘sham’ by attendees as it appeared the plan was already approved before having public input. The case today determined that a notice by the Department of Planning to amend the Development Manual to make the 12 story or 150-ft height legal was rescinded and called ‘void’ and of ‘no effect’ by the Chief Justice in her ruling. Magnetic Media has sought to get reaction to the decision handed down just hours ago; there was no reply up to news production time.
