first_imgTe Smokin’ Mule tour made its way to the Brenton Skating Plaza in Des Moines, IA, returning with the same musical formula of Blackberry Smoke opening, Gov’t Mule headlining, and a Smokin’ Mule collaboration for the final encore. Last night, it was Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr who got the call after a fine Mule set, joining the band for two songs in the encore: “Jesus Gonna Be Here” by Tom Waits and “Jesus Just Left Chicago” by ZZ Top.Mule’s set itself included a number of classic tunes, including “John The Revelator,” “Banks of the Deep End” and more to get things going.
