Reporters Without Borders condemns the 10-month jail sentence that an Abu Dhabi court passed yesterday on the netizen Abdullah Al-Hadidi for tweeting details of the trial of 94 alleged government opponents from the courtoom “in bad faith.” Observers and foreign media are not being all owed to attend the trial of the 94 alleged dissidents, who are charged endangering the country’s security. Hadidi, who was able to attend the fourth hearing on 19 March as the son of one of the defendants, was arrested on 22 March and has been held ever since. In several tweets, Hadidi criticized the decision to bar foreign journalists from the courtroom. More than 15 international lawyers were also denied entry to the United Arab Emirates with the result that they were unable to assist with the defence.“The decision to convict Hadidi because of his tweets is indicative of the government’s desire to impose a news blackout on the trial of the 94 and its refusal to accept any form of public criticism of its policies. We call for Hadidi’s immediate release and for his conviction to be overturned.“The UAE policy of gagging critics who express their views or report information online is part of a growing regional tendency to convict netizens on charges of ‘disseminating false information.’ The Gulf regimes have found this to be an easy way to suppress information of a critical nature and intimidate those who refuse to relay the official discourse.” United Arab EmiratesMiddle East – North Africa Organisation Read in Arabic (بالعربية) News RSF joins Middle East and North Africa coalition to combat digital surveillance United Arab EmiratesMiddle East – North Africa June 8, 2021 Find out more Follow the news on United Arab Emirates RSF_en Help by sharing this information News News to go further April 9, 2013 – Updated on January 20, 2016 Ten months in jail for tweets, new threat to freedom of information December 23, 2020 Find out more April 28, 2021 Find out more RSF joins other NGOs in amicus brief in WhatsApp suit against NSO Group NSO Group hasn’t kept its promises on human rights, RSF and other NGOs say Receive email alertslast_img read more

The company’s team on board its jack-up vessel Wind Enterprise has exchanged gearboxes on two out of the 30 Senvion (REpower) 5 MW wind turbines at the Ormonde offshore wind farm. In addition, ZITON reported at the beginning of August that it completed a blade exchange on the Kentish Flats offshore wind farm, which comprises 30 Vestas 3 MW wind turbines. At the beginning of this month, ZITON also completed a full-scope gearbox exchange at the Teesside Wind Farm (also knows as Redcar Wind Farm), which features 27 Siemens Gamesa 2.3 MW turbines. center_img The work was carried out in mid-August with both gearboxes exchanged within four days. “This specific type of gearbox is notorious for minimum tolerances, hence requires a very experienced team to guarantee successful exchange”, the company said via social media. last_img read more

first_imgLifeSiteNews 21 October 2016Family First Comment: “When the transgender restroom battle first broke into public consciousness, several LGBT activists and others in the media said laws granting men access to women’s intimate facilities posed no threat, because no transgender person had ever been convicted of voyeurism in jurisdictions that legally forces businesses to make such facilities pan-gender.”#womendeserveprivacyA transgender man confessed in court to taking advantage of Target’s gender-inclusive policies to secretly videotape women inside a Target changing room.Sean Patrick Smith, 46, entered a guilty plea to a felony count of video voyeurism on Monday before Idaho District Judge Joel Tingey.Smith was arrested in July at a Target store in Ammon, Idaho, for peering over the partition with his cell phone and recording an 18-year-old female changing into swimwear. The young woman was completely nude at the time, according to her mother, who pursued Smith as he fled the store and tore out of the parking lot.Smith later admitted to investigators that the transgender changing room policy gave him access to record several young women undressing, according to police records.“Just because the man puts on the dress does not mean he is no longer sexually attracted to women,” Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth, told LifeSiteNews.Smith said that he made the videos for the “same reason men go online to look at pornography.”READ MORE: https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/transgender-man-pleads-guilty-to-videotaping-women-in-target?utm_source=LifePetitions+petition+signers&utm_campaign=891c456671-Petitions_Family_10_2510_25_2016&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_c5c75ce940-891c456671-398888013last_img read more

first_imgNewcastle Utd vs. Liverpool Venue: St James’ Park Kick off: 4PMLiverpool bring an historic and seminal campaign to a close today when they face Newcastle United at St James’ Park on the final day of the 2019-20 Premier League season. The champions finally got their hands on the trophy after beating Chelsea last time out, and they travel to a Newcastle side without a win in their last five outings. There has been plenty of time for Liverpool to look back on their 2019-20 campaign over the course of the month since they wrapped up the title, and Sunday’s match is another of those as they bring an unforgettable season to a close.A spectacular trophy-lifting ceremony in The Kop followed Wednesday night’s thrilling 5-3 triumph over Chelsea, and just as they marked that occasion with a win they will no doubt be keen to end the season in style too. With the trophy long since secured and the all-time points record now out of reach there is not a great deal aside from pride left for Liverpool to fight for on the face of it, but some notable achievements are still up for grabs.Victory would see them surpass last season’s points tally of 97 and would set a new club record for a single campaign, beating the 98 they earned in 1978-79 when adjusted to three points for a win. The record title-winning margin is also still possible, although for that to happen Jurgen Klopp’s side would also need an unlikely favour from relegated Norwich City away to Manchester City. The Merseysiders could also still equal the record for most wins in a season by chalking up number 32 of the campaign – an achievement Man City have managed in each of the last two terms. However, for all of Liverpool’s dominance throughout the season, their away record of late has been suspect to say the least – five defeats and only one win in their last seven outings on the road across all competitions.Liverpool have shipped 10 goals in their five away league games in that run, which is as many as they had in their previous 19 on the road, so they will be relieved to face a Newcastle side that has struggled for goals all season.Only Crystal Palace, Watford and Norwich have scored fewer than the Magpies in 2019-20, although they have certainly improved in that respect since lockdown with 12 goals in eight games – as many as they had managed in their previous 15. Newcastle’s lack of goals have also not hindered them too much as far as the table is concerned, with Steve Bruce having steered his side well clear of danger with plenty of time to spare. The manager has certainly responded to his critics with his side’s performances on the pitch, but he has also stressed that a club like Newcastle should be looking to do more than simply steer clear of relegation and so signs of improvement will also be important to him.A four-game winless streak heading into this match has harmed their chances of achieving that, though, leaving them still one point adrift of last season’s tally under Rafael Benitez. The Magpies can finish no higher than 13th either – the same position as last season – although should they pull off a surprise win against the champions then they would record their highest Premier League points tally since 2013-14.RelatedPosts Lampard: I still have confidence in Tomori Ighalo: My best moment as ‘Red Devil’ Mane double eases Liverpool to win over 10-man Chelsea Newcastle do boast a formidable record on the final day of the season, winning each of their last five such matches by an aggregate score of 17-1, although Liverpool were the last team to inflict a season-ending defeat on them.Indeed, the Reds have inflicted 76 top-flight defeats on Newcastle down the years, which is four more than the Magpies have suffered against any other opponent.Newcastle possible XI: Dubravka, Manquillo, Fernandez, Hayden, Rose, Ritchie, Shelvey, Bentaleb, Almiron, Saint-Maximin, Joelinton. Liverpool possible XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Keita, Salah, Firmino, Mane.Tags: ChelseaLiverpoolPremier LeagueSt james’ Parklast_img read more
