first_imgApril 20, 20181 Comment Blog The king of Swaziland has announced that his country’s name has changed to eSwatini.King Mswati III announced Thursday that the country of Swaziland will change its name to the Kingdom of eSwatini to mark 50 years since independence from British rule.The landlocked country, smaller than the US state of New Jersey, is economically reliant on South Africa.Africa’s last absolute monarchy, made the announcement during independence day celebrations at a packed sports stadium in Manzini.Wearing red military uniform, the king said: “I would like to announce that Swaziland will now revert to its original name.”“African countries on getting independence reverted to their ancient names before they were colonised.
